AM4 socket โ€” dead centre

The silkscreen beside it reads DDR4 ยท Socket AM4 and the board is marked A520M K V2. It takes AMD Ryzen 5000 / 5000 G, Ryzen 4000 G and Ryzen 3000 / 3000 G processors, and every standard AM4 cooler mount fits.

2

2 ร— DDR4 DIMM slots โ€” right of the socket

Silkscreened DDR4_A1 and DDR4_B1. Dual-channel DDR4 up to 64 GB using two 32 GB modules โ€” plenty for an office machine or a mainstream Ryzen build.

3

Bare VRM stage โ€” left of and above the socket

The power stage runs without a heatsink, which is the honest signature of the A520 tier. It is sized for Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 class processors rather than a high-core-count Ryzen 9.

4

M2A_CPU socket โ€” below the socket

One M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 socket, silkscreened M2A_CPU and wired directly to the processor. It takes an NVMe boot drive with no adapter and no shared bandwidth.

5

PCIe 3.0 x16 graphics slot โ€” mid-board

The long slot carries the graphics card, with a short expansion slot beside it for a sound, capture or Wi-Fi card โ€” useful here, since this board has no wireless of its own.

6

4 ร— SATA 6 Gb/s โ€” right edge

Silkscreened SATA3 0/1 and SATA3 2/3. Four ports for hard drives and 2.5-inch SSDs, on the board edge so cables route cleanly to the drive cage.

7

24-pin ATX and front headers โ€” right and bottom edges

The 24-pin main power connector sits on the right edge. Along the bottom run F_PANEL, SPEAKER, CLR_CMOS, front-panel audio and USB headers, plus an F_U32 front USB 3.2 header.

8

Rear I/O edge โ€” left side of the board

The port stack is built into the left edge, silkscreened VGA, HDMI and U32, with the PS/2 port marked KB at the top and the Realtek gigabit LAN below. The board is also marked ErP Ready for low standby power.

Ultra Durable build

Gigabyte's Ultra Durable programme covers the PCB and the solid capacitors. On a board at this price the value is longevity in a machine that runs every day, not overclocking headroom.

Honest positioning

The VRM stage runs without a heatsink. This is a board for Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 class processors โ€” pair it with an office or mainstream chip, not a high-core-count Ryzen 9.

ErP Ready

The board is marked ErP Ready, meaning it meets the low standby-power standard. Small on its own, but it adds up on a machine left plugged in year-round.

Smart Fan control

Fan headers follow live temperature rather than a fixed curve, so an office build stays quiet at idle and only ramps when the processor actually warms up.

Will It Fit Your Build?

Check these before you add to cart
โœ“

Processor

AMD Ryzen 5000 / 5000 G, Ryzen 4000 G and Ryzen 3000 / 3000 G on Socket AM4. Best matched with Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 class chips.

โœ“

Memory

DDR4 only โ€” 2 slots, dual channel, up to 64 GB with two 32 GB modules. Your existing DDR4 kit carries over.

โœ“

Storage

One M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 socket wired to the CPU, plus 4 ร— SATA 6 Gb/s for hard drives and 2.5-inch SSDs.

โœ“

Display

HDMI and VGA together, driven by a Ryzen G-Series processor's integrated graphics โ€” it connects to a modern monitor and an old VGA projector without adapters.

โœ“

Case

Micro-ATX board โ€” fits any Micro-ATX, Mid-Tower or Full-Tower ATX chassis.

โœ“

Cooler

Standard AM4 mounting, so the stock Ryzen cooler and virtually every aftermarket AM4 cooler fit.

!

Graphics: check your CPU

Only Ryzen G-Series chips have integrated graphics. A Ryzen 5 5600 (non-G) has none โ€” with that CPU you must fit a graphics card or the display outputs will stay dark.

!

No Wi-Fi and no CPU overclocking

Wired Gigabit Ethernet only, and the A520 chipset does not support CPU overclocking. The spare expansion slot takes a Wi-Fi card if you need wireless.

Build Q&A

The questions builders actually ask about this board
Will the HDMI and VGA outputs work with any Ryzen chip?+
No โ€” and this is the single most common mistake on AM4. The display outputs only work with a processor that has integrated graphics, which on AMD means the G-Series parts. A Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X has no integrated graphics, so with those you must fit a discrete graphics card.
Which processors does it support?+
AMD Ryzen 5000 / 5000 G, Ryzen 4000 G and Ryzen 3000 / 3000 G on Socket AM4. Given the bare VRM stage, it pairs best with Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 class chips rather than the highest-core-count parts.
Can I overclock on an A520 board?+
No. A520 does not support CPU overclocking โ€” that needs a B550 or X570 board. Memory runs at its supported speed. A520 is the value tier and this board is priced accordingly.
How much memory can I install?+
64 GB across two DDR4 slots, using a pair of 32 GB modules. Two slots rather than four means planning capacity up front, but 64 GB is well beyond what an office or mainstream build needs.
Can I install an NVMe SSD?+
Yes. There is one M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 socket wired directly to the processor, so an NVMe boot drive runs at full Gen3 speed. Four SATA ports handle everything else.
Is there Wi-Fi on this board?+
No โ€” the box badge says NO WIFI plainly. Networking is a wired Realtek Gigabit port. The spare expansion slot beside the graphics slot takes a PCIe Wi-Fi card, or a USB adapter works with no slot at all.
Why would I want a VGA port in 2026?+
Because a great many office monitors and meeting-room projectors still have one. Having HDMI and VGA together means this board drops into an existing fleet without buying adapters for the older screens.
Will my AM4 cooler fit?+
Yes. The socket uses the standard AM4 mounting, so the stock Ryzen cooler and effectively every aftermarket AM4 tower cooler or AIO bracket fits without an adapter kit.
Does AHW Store update the BIOS before shipping?+
Every motherboard ships sealed in its original retail packaging with the factory BIOS. Our engineers can flash the latest vendor BIOS free of charge on request when you order a CPU with the board, which guarantees first-boot compatibility with the newest supported CPU generation.
