Gigabyte Z890 EAGLE WIFI7 — an unlocked Z890 board with four M.2 sockets, USB4 and Wi-Fi 7
A full-size ATX board on Intel's Z890 chipset for Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors on LGA 1851. Z890 is the unlocked tier, and this board backs it with a 60 A DrMOS power stage under EAGLE heatsinks, four M.2 sockets beneath a full-width shroud, an Ultra Durable PCIe Armor 5.0 x16 slot, a USB4 Type-C port with DisplayPort output, and both Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet.

LGA 1851 CPU socket — dead centre
The board silkscreen reads Z890 EAGLE WIFI7 · REV:1.0. This is the LGA 1851 socket for Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors — a new socket, so an LGA 1700 chip will not fit.
60 A DrMOS power stage under EAGLE heatsinks — top and left
The angular heatsink blocks carrying the illuminated EAGLE logo cover a digital power stage built on 60 A DrMOS stages. Z890 is the overclocking tier, and the VRM temperature is usually what limits a sustained all-core run — so this metal is doing real work.
4 × DDR5 DIMM slots — right edge
Four-slot dual-channel DDR5, with a JEDEC baseline of 5600 MT/s and substantial headroom above it through the board's memory overclocking profiles.
Ultra Durable PCIe Armor x16 — below the socket
The primary graphics slot is silkscreened ULTRA DURABLE PCIe ARMOR: a metal-shielded, extra-anchored PCIe 5.0 x16 socket, with a quick-release latch so a heavy card comes out without fishing behind the cooler.
4 × M.2 sockets under the full-width shroud — centre
The broad silver plate reading RISE TO THE TOP is the M.2 heatsink assembly. Four M.2 sockets live beneath it and the adjoining Gigabyte-branded plate, one of which also accepts an M.2 SATA drive.
PCIEX4_1 and PCIEX4_2 — two more expansion slots, lower left
Two additional PCIe x4 slots sit below the M.2 shroud, silkscreened PCIEX4_1 and PCIEX4_2, positioned clear of a thick graphics card cooler.
4 × SATA 6 Gb/s — right edge
Four right-angled SATA ports on the board edge beside the chipset shroud, so cables exit cleanly toward the drive cage.
Front HDMI, Thunderbolt and TPM headers — right and bottom edges
An F_HDMI header sits on the right edge, and the bottom edge carries THB_C1 and THB_U4_C2 Thunderbolt / USB4 headers, SPI_TPM for Windows 11, three addressable ARGB_V2 headers, two USB headers and four fan/pump headers.

What feeds the socket, and what keeps it steady60 A DrMOS digital power stage
Each phase is rated at 60 amps. On the Z890 tier that headroom is the difference between holding an all-core boost and stepping down when the VRM heats up, which is exactly what an unlocked Core Ultra chip will ask for.
EAGLE thermal armour
Angular heatsink blocks cover the power stage, and a full-width M.2 shroud spans the middle of the board. That plate is not decoration — modern high-speed NVMe drives throttle without it.
Ultra Durable PCIe Armor
The x16 slot is metal-shielded with extra solder anchor points and a quick-release latch, so a heavy triple-fan card sits level and comes out with one press.
Wi-Fi 7 plus 2.5 GbE
Both are on board: Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with Bluetooth 5.4 across the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands, and a wired 2.5 Gigabit port for when latency matters more than convenience.

DDR5 only — 4 slots, dual channel, 5600 MT/s JEDEC baseline with overclocking headroom above it. DDR4 will not fit.

4 × M.2 under a full-width heatsink shroud, plus 4 × SATA 6 Gb/s — eight drives before any expansion card.
External devices
USB4 Type-C at 40 Gb/s with DisplayPort output — enough for an external GPU enclosure, a fast NVMe dock or a single-cable monitor.

No HDMI on the rear panel
Display outputs are DisplayPort and the USB4 Type-C port. There is an F_HDMI header on board for a front or case-mounted HDMI port, but plan a DisplayPort or USB-C cable for an HDMI-only monitor, or budget for an adapter.
Match the CPU to the board
Z890 with a 60 A DrMOS power stage is built for an unlocked Core Ultra chip. Paired with an entry processor, most of that headroom sits idle.
