An Intel Z890 ATX motherboard for Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors on socket LGA1851. MSI feeds the CPU from a 16+1+1+1 Duet Rail design with 90A smart power stages on a 6-layer, 2oz-copper PCB, and gives it PCIe 5.0 x16 for the graphics card, four M.2 slots (one PCIe 5.0 x4), DDR5 up to 9200+ MT/s (OC), two rear Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7 and Intel Killer 5G LAN.

Sixteen 90A smart power stages feed Vcore, fed by two 8-pin CPU power connectors. Heavy-plated VRM heatsinks sit on 7W/mK MOSFET pads with extra choke pads.

Dual-channel DDR5, up to 256 GB, rated to 9200+ MT/s (OC) with one single-rank DIMM per channel. Intel XMP 3.0 and CUDIMM supported.

Which processors does it support?+

Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) desktop processors on socket LGA1851. Older 12th–14th Gen Core chips use LGA1700 and will not fit.

What can I do with the two Thunderbolt 4 ports?+

Each rear Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port runs at 40Gbps, supplies 15W, can drive a display over DisplayPort (with a CPU that has integrated graphics) and can daisy-chain up to three Thunderbolt 4 devices. A header also accepts MSI's optional Thunderbolt 5 add-in card, which is sold separately.

How many SSDs can I install?+

Four M.2 NVMe drives plus four SATA drives. M.2_1 runs at PCIe 5.0 x4 and M.2_2 at PCIe 4.0 x4, both from the CPU; M.2_3 and M.2_4 run at PCIe 4.0 x4 from the chipset, and M.2_4 also takes M.2 SATA drives.

Is this the MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI or the WIFI II?+

This is the original MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI (board MS-7E32), with two rear Thunderbolt 4 ports and two CPU-connected M.2 slots.
